Ipswich v Bolton
Ipswich were one of just two sides who benefitted from a rest in midweek and it gave Mick McCarthy’s side the chance to work on the fitness of his players and prepare for this home game with Bolton. The Tractor Boys have lost consecutive matches but this looks a realistic chance to bounce back from those successive defeats. After looking relatively competitive in the first few weeks of the season, Bolton’s form has dropped off alarmingly and they have now failed to find the target in their last three matches.
Back Ipswich to Win at 2.06 with Marathon Bet. Ipswich seem to be decent value here against a side who have forgotten how to score. The Tractor Boys lost at QPR (tough place to visit) and at home to Fulham but this appears much easier. They’ve scored just one away goal so far this season and were hammered 4-0 by Hull during their last away outing. The Trotters are already in trouble and they haven’t had the benefit of a midweek rest.
Blackburn v AFC Wimbledon
It’s still early days in League One but Blackburn finally appear to be clicking and Tony Mowbray’s side have put together a nice run of form. Their pivotal 1-0 win at Valley Parade against Bradford was the catalyst for a winning sequence which is still ongoing. They won 1-0 in midweek at Scunthorpe with Marcus Antonsson scoring the winner. Glanford Park is not an easy place to go at the moment. AFC Wimbledon are showing the early signs of a struggling side and have netted just four times since the start of the season. They weren’t able to squeeze past an abysmal Gillingham side on Tuesday who played 45 minutes with 10 men.
Tip: Back Blackburn to Win at 1.66 with Marathon Bet. Rovers have started to show their class in this division and have also kept three clean sheets in four. Mowbray’s side netted four at home against MK Dons recently and it’s hard to see Wimbledon keeping them off the scoresheet. Neal Ardley’s side are going to have to grind out results at home if they are to survive.
Bradford v Rotherham
Another League One side who are impressing this year are Bradford. Stuart McCall’s side lost key players in the summer but have recruited well and they are scoring plenty of goals. The Bantams have netted 11 times in their last four matches including against Oxford, Peterborough and Bristol Rovers. Rotherham hit five in midweek and will be confident of returning from this short trip with something to show for it. Paul Warne’s men were tipped to go down by many this season but they have looked very dangerous going forward.
Tip: Back Over 2.5 Goals at 2.05 with Marathon Bet. Odds appear generous for a goal-fest between these sides. It’s landed in five of seven Bradford matches with McCall’s side impressing going forward. There have been 11 goals in the last two Rotherham games and they managed to score at Peterborough and Portsmouth. This should be a very entertaining clash.
Walsall v Peterborough
Walsall were very poor in midweek when losing 5-1 at the hands of Rotherham and fans are still divided on Jon Whitney. They have picked up some good results at home recently though and each of their home matches have been tremendously entertaining so far this season. The Saddlers have won 2-1 twice and drawn their other match at the Bescott 3-3. Peterborough got back to winning way in midweek with a 2-0 success against MK Dons and have now scored in all but one match this season.
Tip: Back Both Teams to Score at 1.65 with Marathon Bet. This is a relatively short price but both sides should find the net here. Walsall may struggle at the back but they tend to get on the scoresheet and have netted 8 times in 3 home matches so far. Peterborough were back amongst the goals in midweek and have plenty of confidence in the final third. It should be an entertaining clash.
