Football League Betting Tips – 17th December
We’re spoilt for choice over the Christmas period with action from the Football League. Below are our favourite Football League Betting Tips. Enjoy!
Nottingham Forest v Wolves
Nottingham Forest have scored and conceded in 13 consecutive home games in the Championship and they haven’t kept a clean sheet here since beating Preston on the 8th of March. They drew 1-1 in midweek and are back in action at the City Ground once again on Saturday. They are once again without Britt Assombalonga and Henri Lansbury which is a huge blow but Phillipe Montanier’s side will surely find the back of the net. Wolves have improved under Paul Lambert, but were edged out by Cardiff in South Wales on Tuesday night. They took the lead after 2 minutes, but couldn’t hold on. They were involved in the 4-4 thriller with Fulham last weekend.
Back Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score at 2.01 with Marathon Bet. Wolves’ last three games have featured 16 goals whilst Forest’s last five home games have featured 13 goals. Surely these two sides’ defences need reinforcements come January.
Chesterfield v Bolton
Chesterfield have been shipping goals left, right and centre and part of the reason for their struggles at the bottom of the table. They don’t lack firepower though. They sit second bottom on 18 points, level with Shrewsbury and Oldham and it’s already been a long hard season for the Spirerites fans. It doesn’t get much easier with the visit of 3rd place Bolton. The Trotters won 4-0 in front of the TV cameras on Monday night, sweeping aside Gillingham. David Wheater and Mark Beevers have formed a formidable partnership at the back and they rarely concede.
Back Bolton to beat Chesterfield at 1.82 with Marathon Bet. Bolton have won 4 consecutive matches in League One and have kept a clean sheet in each of them. Chesterfield’s last home match resulted in a 5-0 defeat in the FA Cup and have won just one of the last six here.
Scunthorpe v Millwall
Sheffield United’s last gasp victory on Thursday night meant they drew level on points with Scunthorpe at the top of the League One table. The Iron will need to secure maximum points here to keep the Blades at bay, but this won’t be an easy fixture. They’ve looked a little shaky at the back recently, conceding three to Rochdale last weekend and keeping just one clean sheet in their last six home matches. Millwall have been the goals specialists in the division producing many high scoring affairs; not necessarily all in their favour. They beat Bury 3-2 last weekend and currently sit 10th.
Back Both Teams to Score? Yes at 1.68 with Marathon Bet. Scunthorpe’s only clean sheet came against low scoring Oldham, who have netted just 12 times. The Iron are averaging 2 goals a game with 41 notched so far. Millwall haven’t kept a clean sheet since the beginning of April and have had problems keeping sides out. The Lions have been forced to outscore the opposition in order to pick up points and they should continue that theme here.
Wycombe v Leyton Orient
The Chairboys are the form side in League Two at the moment with 5 consecutive wins and Gareth Ainsworth has once again performed miracles with a miniscule budget. They will be challenging for the play-offs on current evidence as long as winter injuries don’t bite too hard. They’ve conceded just a single goal in 5 games and that came back in the middle of November. Leyton Orient still haven’t appointed a new manager, but did pick up a vital victory against ten man Accrington last week. Jay Simpson got lucky with the strike and there is still a lot of work to do at Brisbane Road.
Back Wycombe at 2.11 with Marathon Bet. Wycombe are in a fine run of form and Scott Kashket is scoring for fun. Leyton Orient aren’t bad on the road, but they aren’t clicking and their form is poor by comparison. The Buckinghamshire side should be too organised and have too much for the struggling O’s
