Chinese Super League Tips
Shanghai SIPG v Beijing Guoan
The Shanghai side look to be the clear cut favorite in this one. Even more so than away, at home the Shanghai International Port Group find the net with ease scoring in 100% of their home matches so far. But Beijing are an unpredictable team this season and especially against better teams they seem to find that extra strength.
In their last eight games, Beijing played against four of the current top 5 teams and gathered 7 points in those four games. Results included a 0-1 away win over Hebei (5th) and a 0-0 draw away at reigning champions Guangzhou.
In away games, Beijing both score more and concede less than at home and this is just another factor that leads us to make our next prediction. Normally we shy away from making score predictions, but this was the deciding statistic for us: Shanghai SIPG’s highest occurring score at home this season is 1-1 (27,3%) and Beijing Guoan’s highest occurring score away? 1-1 (27,3%).

Guangzhou R&F v Shanghai Shenhua
This will without a doubt be the most entertaining CSL match of this week. Both teams are in good shape and are not afraid to play attacking football. Shanghai Shenhua recently lost their top goalscorer Demba Ba to a season-ending injury, but Obafemi Martins has stepped up to the plate with 5 goals in his last 5 appearances.
Guangzhou have their own goalscoring machine in Eran Zahavi who has taken the Chinese football world by storm after his arrival to the Super League. But at the back the Guangzhou Rich & Famous are not looking too good, conceding at least one goal in 82% of their home matches.
Add to this that the second leg of the FA Cup’s semi-final against city rival Guangzhou Evergrande is coming up soon. The first match ended in a draw and with not much left to play for in the Super League Guangzhou R&F will have to make sure they keep their focus.

Hebei CF v Guangzhou Evergrande
This might be the one with the most value. Five-time consecutive champions Guangzhou Evergrande on paper are a favorite in any Super League game they play, and this is reflected in odds being offered. However, things don’t look great for them this week.
Even tough Guangzhou are still in first place, they have won only once in their last 5! (1 win, 2 draws, 2 losses)
Scolari’s poor run of late has opened up the Title race again with Jiangsu now within 6 points of the Champions.
And the trouble does not stop there for the champions. A whopping 7 of Guangzhou’s players have been called up for the World Cup Qualifiers this week against South-Korea and Iran. This means 7 of their players will be playing their 3rd match in 7 days, on a terrible pitch. And not to forget the travel times the players are exposed to. Guangzhou will have to either opt for a 9-hour train journey or a 5-hour flight.
The timing seems just perfect for new Hebei coach Manuel Pellegrini to hit the ground running in the Super League.
